How to choose the right sensor or switch
Measuring, or switching?
Do you need to know the exact pressure/temperature value (sensor), or just react when a limit is exceeded (switch)?
Range and medium
Check the measured range and medium type - for pressure sensors we also distinguish hygienic and high-pressure variants.
Output signal or contact function
For sensors, choose the output (4-20 mA, 0-10 V); for switches, the contact function and reset type (automatic/manual).
Environment and connection
The IP enclosure rating, temperature resistance and type of process/electrical connection must match the installation site.

A sensor (transmitter) continuously measures pressure and sends an analogue signal to the control system. A switch (pressure switch) only makes or breaks a contact when a set value is reached - it does not provide information about the exact current value.
