Unlike a mat, with a cable you set your own spacing and output, so it suits any situation that needs flexibility or an unusual floor shape.
The basic choice depends on the application: series heating cables have a fixed output per metre and are ideal for floor heating, outdoor areas or pipe heat tracing with a precisely defined need. Self-regulating cables automatically adjust their output to the surrounding temperature - output drops where it's warm and rises where frost is a risk. That's a major advantage for longer runs, gutters or locations with variable temperatures.
